Reconstructing the World War II Service of Corporal William D. Burnett

From the Virginia Frontier to Rural Tennessee follows nine generations of the Looney–Luna family from colonial Virginia to modern-day Tennessee through documented historical research. This case study demonstrates how military records, probate files, court minutes, deeds, tax records, census schedules, and family oral history can be combined to reconstruct more than two centuries of family history. Rather than presenting a traditional genealogy, the report places each generation within its historical context, illustrating how careful research can transform names and dates into the story of a family across generations.
